APA National Multicultural Conference and Summit, 2005

The theme of this year's conference was:
“The Psychology of Race/Ethnicity, Gender, Sexual Orientation, and Disability: What Works, With Whom and Under What Circumstances”

The four very distinguished keynote speakers and their themes were:

  • Derald Wing Sue, PhD

    “About What We Must Do To Survive And Overcome Racism: A Message to People of Color and White ”
  • Nancy Boyd-Franklin, PhD & Anderson J. Franklin, PhD

    “Cultural Competency In The Treatment Of African American Couples”
  • Olivia Espin, PhD

    “The Age Of The Cookie Cutter Has Passed: Contradictions In Identity At The Core Of Therapeutic Intervention”

There was also a Special Elder Recognition Ceremony, where they honored 7 extremely accomplished individuals whose contributions relative to multiculturalism in psychology have been tremendous.
